School trip to the Karl-May-Museum in Radebeul

On the 10th December, our class 9A went to the Karl-May-Museum in Radebeul. There we attended a workshop about Native Americans and learned about Karl May and his stories.
The museum is in his old house and some other buildings in its garden. Karl May was a writer who wrote about the Indigenous nations of America. In his books you can find famous people like Winnetou and the German adventurer Old Shatterhand.

During the workshop and the guided tour we had to speak English. A woman guided us through it and explained some historical facts. After that we started the workshop and in groups we researched different topics related to the theme of the museum, for example the music and pop culture, films or paintings. We also looked at digital examples like music videos or video games. At the end we presented our findings to the other groups and talked about the treatment of indigenous people today. It was a really intersting workshop which we highly reccomend.

Christmas Market “Striezelmarket”

After the workshop we went to the „Striezelmarket“ in Dresden. There we had some free time and were allowed to walk around the market on our own and to buy some food or drinks. It started to rain but it was still nice and one hour later we met at the tram station in order to go home.
